The semantic roots of the term geometry come from ‘geo’, the Earth, and ‘metry’, to measure.
Measuring the Earth was indeed one of the first uses of Geometry in the ‘civilized’ world as it was so important to establish the boundaries of ‘land ownership’. However this mundane use of triangulation was certainly not what I would call sacred.
Even so, in order to understand the geometry of reality it is necessary first to be able to measure distances between points. Without this simple ability it is impossible to define a shape as a geometry. With this ability it is possible to begin finding locations on the Earth where the land itself contains ratios that set up harmonic patterns in the Earth’s energy fields. I believe that this is why so many sacred sites are located in geometric relationship to their surroundings.
